The Screencastify Record toolbar gives you quick access to all of the tools you need while recording. Whether you’re highlighting content, adding feedback, or managing your recording, the toolbar keeps everything in one place.
Annotation Tools
The annotation menu includes options to help you draw attention, illustrate concepts, and guide your viewers.
- Pen Tool – Write, underline, or circle directly on your screen. Choose a color that works best for your lesson or demo.
- Rectangle Tool – Place a colored box anywhere on the screen to highlight buttons, text, or key areas.
- Stickers – Add visual markers like emojis to emphasize actions or provide quick feedback.
- Eraser – Remove pen strokes, rectangles, or stickers one by one.
- Clear Screen – Wipe all annotations at once and start fresh.
Mouse Options
You can adjust how your mouse behaves on screen to help direct attention:
- Circle Clicks – Show a simple highlight each time you click.
- Focus Mode – Dim the background to spotlight your cursor.
- Classic Highlight – Keep your cursor more visible as it moves.
- Fireworks – Add a celebratory effect with each click.
Recording Controls
The toolbar also includes quick controls for your recording session:
- Pause / Resume – Pause to gather your thoughts or adjust your screen, then continue recording.
- Stop Recording – End your video when you’re finished.
Flexible Placement
The toolbar can be moved anywhere on your screen so it doesn’t cover important content. You can also resize it or use keyboard shortcuts if you’d prefer fewer on-screen tools. Labels under each button make it easier for anyone — including students — to quickly understand how to use the features.
