Yesterday, our team hosted What’s New at Screencastify, a live webinar featuring CEO Vishal Shah and CTO Paul Ray. We walked through the latest product updates, gave a first look at new features, and answered some incredible questions from educators who joined us live.

If you missed the session, you can watch the full recording here.

Because we had such an active Q&A, we’ve pulled together the most common questions (plus a few we anticipated!) so you can revisit the answers anytime.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I upload media other than video, like JPGs or audio files?

Not yet but support for additional media types is on our roadmap for the new editor.

Can I save the same video with voiceover in different languages?

Absolutely. You can save a video with dubbed voiceovers in multiple languages to share with different audiences.

Does the AI Voice Over feature work with Submit?

Not yet. Many educators have requested it, and we use feedback like this to update our roadmap.

Will YouTube videos inside Screencastify include ads?

No standard YouTube ads will appear. If the video itself contains a sponsorship, that content will remain, but you won’t see skip-ads. Some states also block YouTube—Screencastify lets you bypass that so you can still use the video in your classroom.

Can I add a voiceover after recording?

Yes! This feature is currently available for Screencastify Pro users. Don't have Pro? Find all of the details here to upgrade today.

Is there a beginner’s Screencastify 101 guide?

Yes—check out our Screencastify Quick Start Guide.

Can I edit specific parts of a transcript?

Yes. Transcripts are organized in chunks, and you can choose which parts to delete or edit. Editing the transcript won’t change your spoken words but will update the captions.

Can my students use these features through Submit?

Submit is designed for collecting video responses. Students don’t have the same editing or creator features. Licensing settings can be adjusted at the organizational level. For detailed guidance, reach out to support@screencastify.com.

Can collaboration be used for student group projects?

Yes. Students can upload their responses to a shared folder, and you can stitch them together into a highlight reel in the editor.

Is there still a free version for educators?

Yes, though some features are only available with Screencastify Pro. We also run promotions for educators from time to time.

Are all features available if I already pay for Screencastify?

Yes, except for Transform, which has not yet launched.

Will video time limits increase for language-focused features?

Currently, free users can record up to 30 minutes, Pro users up to 60 minutes. We’re expanding that to 120 minutes for Pro accounts.

Do all students need licenses to view or submit?

No. Teachers need a Pro license to share and collect, but students don’t need a license to respond. The number of responses you can collect depends on your license type.

How many languages can Screencastify translate into?

Currently over 90. You can email support@screencastify.com to request additional languages or provide feedback.

Can I make a highlight reel from multiple Submit assignments?

Yes—you can combine responses from different assignments into one highlight reel.

What roles are available in shared folders?

  • Viewer – Can only view videos
  • Copier – Can view and make copies of videos
  • Contributor – Can view, copy, and add videos
  • Collaborator – Can view, copy, add, share, and edit videos
  • Owner – Has full control, including removing videos

With Microsoft integration, where are my videos stored?

Videos created under Microsoft login are stored in Screencastify’s internal storage instead of Google Drive.

What’s Next?

We’re planning to host an Open Mic Webinar in the coming months, where you’ll be able to submit your questions in advance and hear them answered live. Stay tuned for details—we’d love to have you join and shape the conversation. In the meantime, join our upcoming webinar in collaboration with LG on 'Teach, Reach, Repeat: In the Classroom and Beyond' on September 10 at 1 pm. Register here.

We hope you feel set to use these new tools and features to get the most of out of Screencastify. If you would like your whole organization to have access to Screencastify, connect us with your organisation today by filling out this form.
